Key Responsibilities

Conduct in-depth mental health assessments, thoughtfully considering the unique challenges faced by older adults, as well as their emotional and psychological needs.

Develop and implement personalized treatment plans that encompass the complexities of aging, including cognitive changes and the impact of physical health on mental well-being.

Utilize evidence-based therapeutic interventions, providing individual and family counseling that addresses conditions common among geriatric populations.

Work collaboratively with geriatric psychiatrists and healthcare professionals to deliver integrated care, ensuring that all aspects of a patient’s health are addressed comprehensively.

Educate clients and their families about mental health conditions, available treatment options, and community resources that can aid in their recovery.

Maintain meticulous documentation in accordance with HIPAA regulations and ethical standards, ensuring client privacy and compliance.

Patient Population / Client Focus Your primary focus will be on older adults experiencing mental health challenges. This includes addressing common issues such as depression, anxiety, dementia-related behavioral symptoms, and other geriatric psychiatric conditions. By understanding the intricacies of geriatric mental health, you will play an essential role in enhancing the quality of life for each client, facilitating their journey towards emotional and psychological resilience.

Qualifications

Master's or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

Possession of an active and valid California state licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).

At least 2 years of post-licensure experience in mental health therapy, particularly with a focus on geriatric populations.

A robust understanding of geriatric mental health disorders, including knowledge of evidence-based treatment modalities.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, exhibiting empathy and a person-centered approach in therapy.

A proven ability to build rapport with elderly clients and their families, fostering trust that encourages open discussions about sensitive topics.

Preferred Experience

Experience working with telehealth platforms and remote counseling techniques is a preferred asset.

Familiarity with community resources available to older adults to support the therapeutic process is highly desirable.
