Key Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive assessments to understand client backgrounds, needs, and circumstances, using culturally competent approaches.

Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that are trauma-informed and outcome-focused.

Deliver evidence-based therapy sessions tailored to meet the unique needs of clients, utilizing techniques such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and mindfulness strategies.

Provide crisis intervention, including effective crisis management plans and strategies for relapse prevention.

Facilitate group therapy sessions when appropriate, promoting a supportive community for clients.

Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client progress, treatment plans, and follow-up measures in accordance with organizational and ethical standards.

Patient Population / Client Focus You will primarily be working with a varied client base that includes individuals, couples, and families grappling with diverse mental health challenges. Clients may present with conditions such as anxiety, depression, trauma-related issues, and relationship concerns. As a counselor, you will play a pivotal role in empowering clients to develop coping skills, enhance their resilience, and create strategies for long-term mental health stability.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in counseling, social work, marriage and family therapy, or a related discipline is required.

An active and valid state license such as LCSW, LMFT, or LPC in Virginia is mandatory.

Strong ability to understand and manage complex client needs with sensitivity and professionalism.

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills that facilitate open dialogue and trust-building with clients.

Preferred Experience While the minimum requirement is two years of relevant experience in mental health counseling, experience with telehealth platforms and a background in working with diverse populations are highly valued. Familiarity with evidence-based practices and the ability to navigate the nuances of remotely delivered therapy will greatly enhance your impact.
