This individual will be responsible for the oversight and leadership of financial reporting, accounting operations, financial governance, controls, and statutory compliance.What you will do:Oversee the daily accounting operations of the organizationManage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processPrepare and review internal financial statementsPremium and Revenue AccountingOversee accounting for: Written premium, Earned premium, Policy fees and commissions, Premium receivablesEnsure premiums are recorded accurately by: Policy period, Product line, State or jurisdiction, Distribution channelLoss and Reserve AccountingCoordinate accounting for: Paid losses, Case reserves, Incurred but not reported reserves, Loss adjustment expensesWork with actuarial, claims, and finance teams to:: Validate reserve-related financial entries, Review reserve movementsReinsurance AccountingOversee ceded and assumed reinsurance accounting, where applicableEnsure proper recording of: Reinsurance recoverables. Ceded premiums, Commissions, Loss recoveries, Funds held balancesReconcile treaty and facultative activity with reinsurers and brokersMonitor collectability and aging of reinsurance balancesRegulatory and Statutory ResponsibilitiesSupport preparation of statutory financial statements such as Annual, Quarterly, and Supplemental SchedulesEnsure compliance with: Statutory accounting principles, IFRS, State insurance department requirementsLeadershipTrain team members on: Accounting policy, Insurance accounting concepts, Controls and documentation standards.Help build a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.Provide the leadership necessary to maintain a motivated, productive and competent team through open communication and delegation of responsibilities and authority.Be a team leader and builder who has an eye for talent with the ability to maximize resources and capability to deliver business results.Demonstrate strong mentoring, relationship building, planning and organizational skills.Guide and direct team members in their personal and professional development. Drive performance excellence through goal-setting, quality feedback, and performance appraisals within the team (midyear and annual).Create a working environment where productivity can be sustained and accomplished, and where innovation and personal growth is encouraged and realized.Drive and role model the A&H culture, values and C&F core competencies within their teams.Internal Controls and GovernanceDesign, maintain, and monitor internal controls over financial reportingEnsure proper segregation of duties and approval workflowsReview controls over: Premium accounting, Claims disbursements, Journal entries, Reconciliations, Financial reporting systemsSupport compliance with internal governance requirementsIdentify accounting and reporting risks and escalate issues when neededTreasury, Cash, and Operational OversightMonitor cash flow, liquidity, and working capitalOversee bank reconciliations and cash controlsSupport treasury processes such as: Cash forecasting, Funding needs, Payment controlsReview operational accounting impacts tied to: Claims payments, Producer commissions, Reinsurance settlements, Vendor and TPA paymentsAudit and Examination SupportServe as a key contact for: External financial statement audits, SOX-related work, Internal audit reviews, Insurance department examinationsPrepare audit schedules, account analyses, and support documentationResolve audit questions and help implement remediation plans for control gapsImprove efficiency, standardization, and accuracy in accounting workflowsPerform special projects and assignments under the direction of senior leadershipOther duties as assignedWhat YOU will bring to C&F:Ability to clearly present information through the spoken or written word; read and interpret complex information with moderate supervisionAbility to establish a good rapport with all customers and business partnersDemonstrated concern for a high-level of service delivery and a strong focus on customer satisfactionCapability to analyze relevant aspects of a situation before reaching a conclusionStrong focus on accuracy when completing all projectsProvide a sustained effort and dedication to getting the job done well, while working continuously to produce superior work regardless of obstacles or setbacksDisplays personal concern, interest, pride and accountability in all areas of responsibilityAbility to effectively handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environmentAbility to work both independently and in a team environmentStrong organization and time management skills with exceptional attention to detailRequirements:Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution or equivalent; Accounting or Finance Degree requiredCPA a plus15+ years working in an accounting/financial role within the insurance spaceStrong PC skills including Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point, etc.

The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $172,700.00 to a maximum of $253,200.00. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range.
