Position Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our team at Nelvana Psychological Center. Key Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments utilizing evidence-based practices and client-centered approaches to develop tailored treatment plans that address the unique needs of each individual.

Implement a variety of therapeutic interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to guide clients toward recovery and personal growth.

Maintain precise and confidential documentation of patient interactions and treatment progress in accordance with HIPAA regulations, ensuring compliance and ethical practice.

Actively participate in case consultations and peer supervision meetings to enhance therapeutic approaches and share insights with colleagues.

Provide educational support to clients and their families regarding mental health conditions, treatment pathways, and community resources to empower them on their journey to wellness.

Stay current with the latest developments in mental health through ongoing education and training, ensuring delivery of evidence-based and effective care.

Patient Population / Client Focus At Nelvana Psychological Center, our patient population is diverse, comprising individuals dealing with a range of mental health issues, including anxiety disorders, depression, PTSD, and other psychological conditions. As a licensed mental health counselor, you will have the privilege of supporting these individuals in overcoming challenges while enabling them to achieve their personal goals and fostering their overall well-being.

Qualifications

A Master's degree or Doctorate in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

An active license in the state of New York as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or LCSW-R.

Proficiency in solution-focused therapy and adept at creating innovative treatment strategies tailored to individual client needs.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for building strong therapeutic alliances with clients and their families.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to navigate complex clinical situations and foster a path to recovery.

Ability to thrive in a collaborative setting, valuing teamwork, and contributing positively to a supportive culture.

Preferred Experience

Experience working with diverse populations and familiarity with various cultural backgrounds and their unique mental health considerations.

Previous clinical practice or internships focusing on outpatient mental health services.

Training or certification in specialized therapeutic methods such as EMDR, play therapy, or other contemporary modalities.
