Key Responsibilities

Deliver exceptional counseling and therapeutic services tailored to the unique needs of clients, employing evidence-based practices and interventions.

Act as an advocate for clients, connecting them with necessary community resources such as financial support, housing assistance, and educational programs.

Provide immediate crisis intervention services for clients dealing with acute mental health challenges, such as suicidal ideation or severe trauma responses.

Engage in community-based mental health initiatives aimed at reducing stigma and promoting awareness, thereby fostering a healthier, more supportive environment for all.

Maintain meticulous records of client interactions, treatment plans, and progress notes, adhering to HIPAA and other applicable regulations to ensure confidentiality and compliance.

Participate in ongoing mentorship and professional development opportunities to enhance both clinical and personal growth.

Patient Population / Client Focus The clients you will serve consist primarily of students and their families, presenting with a broad range of mental health issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, and behavioral challenges. You will play a critical role in equipping these individuals with the skills and strategies needed to navigate both academic pressures and personal hardships, fostering resilience and emotional intelligence.

Qualifications

A Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited program is required.

Holders of a valid Virginia LCSW license with the capacity to practice independently are preferred.

Demonstrated empathy and a culturally competent approach to counseling, reflecting an understanding of diverse client backgrounds and needs.

Proven experience in providing therapeutic services to individuals, couples, or families, with a focus on effective communication and rapport-building.

Preferred Experience
